Remembering Peter Goetz
While we mourn the loss of founding partner Peter Goetz, we want to share some thoughts in honor of his memory. We are grateful for the path he paved and look forward with his legacy in mind. With the first iteration of Goetz Fitzpatrick LLP in 1967, partners Peter Goetz and Gerry Fitzpatrick navigated the landscape of New York City construction with tenacity, loyalty, honesty, commitment to their clients, and leadership. These qualities embody Peter’s legacy that continues to this day, one we strive to uphold at the firm. With a career spanning over five decades, it’s unsurprising that Peter would be known for his expertise in construction law and litigation. He was consistently named in the New York Edition of New York Magazine’s The Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers, accolades given by his peers that attested to his integrity. While it’s impossible to list all of his accomplishments from over 50 years practicing law, it is abundantly clear that Peter’s impact lives on in the firm he created. Inspired by Peter’s example of unwavering determination and vision, the firm he helped found over 50 years ago has expanded to not only include construction, but also real estate, trusts and estates, labor and employment, and other areas. Peter will be remembered, not only for his professional accomplishments, but also for his devoted friendship to those of us who had the honor of knowing him, as well as his sense of humor. While we will miss Peter’s presence, we are proud to honor his memory. Managing Partner, Aaron Boyajian, shared his personal reflections on Peter's monumental contribution to him and the firm, stating, “For over four decades, Peter Goetz was not just at the helm of our firm, but he was its guiding light, navigating through challenges with unparalleled wisdom and foresight.
