Experience

Richard Katz is Of Counsel to the Commercial & Real Estate Finance group at Goetz Fitzpatrick. He has extensive experience in the areas of commercial lending, letters of credit, and credit support for bonds and commercial paper. He focuses his practice on letters of credit, counseling all parties including banks, applicants, and beneficiaries. He advises his clients on the risks involved in the inclusion or exclusion of various terms and provisions and helps them review, negotiate, and finalize letters of credit.

Richard was Of Counsel at a New York bank where he handled commercial lending, letter of credit transactions, and letter of credit support for bonds and commercial paper as well as in-house counsel for a small law firm where he handled letter of credit transactions. He also served as editor for a publishing company where he wrote guidance for attorneys for a workflow management system for commercial lending transactions. As member of an American Bar Association task force, he was involved in the drafting process of forms of deposit account control agreements for use by practitioners across his profession.
