Michael D. Ganz is Senior Counsel to Goetz Fitzpatrick, specializing in the areas of construction and related commercial litigation.
Michael represents owners, developers, general contractors, trade contractors, sureties, and design professionals in issues relating to contract litigation, surety law, and analysis of construction claims. He also represents his construction clients in Labor & Employment matters, including prevailing wages.
As trusted legal counsel, Michael helps clients draft and review contracts to ensure they are fully aware of the contract terms and their possible risk exposure before entering into an agreement. Should a dispute arise, Michael is a skilled negotiator, settling claims through mediation and arbitration when amenable to his clients, or proceeding to trial when litigation proves to be the most beneficial course of action. He is a Construction Industry Panelist for the American Arbitration Association.
Prior to his career in law, Michael worked as a Mechanical Engineer in the private and public sectors, including the New York State Office of General Services and the New York City Department of Environmental Projection. This first-hand experience has greatly informed his construction law practice. He understands the position of the clients he represents as well as the mechanics of government agencies and public entities.
Michael was formerly Deputy Counsel to the Manhattan Borough President and chair of the New York County Lawyers Association’s Construction Law Committee. He regularly presents and moderates Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses, educating attorneys on the topics of construction and commercial law.
